= pekanbaru trip (1) = During 11-14 April, WJ and me went to William hometown-- pekanbaru! Initially the air tickets are $90 and we still consider want to go or not. During Feb, the ticket price got promotion and drop to $68! We very kiasu one, when we saw it, faster book the ticktes.Yup, $68 for round trip (include everything) can take plan!  My opinion, $68 for both ways quite reasonable. That time I took taxi from sembawang to gombak (one way)cost me around $36, =( !! Anyway, wake up very early and seem we still have lots of times, we have a try of free massage. Air asia not boarding at budget terminal, Good!!! Which means we need not walk to the aeroplane. yea! Sit beside the window! The tarvel times around 45 mins but around 35 mins we reach pekanbaru already. Smooth landing, NICE! Something happen at airport immigration, one of the guys don have the air tickets of going back and the immigration guy don want chop his passport, His friends, a lady from pekanbaru say out :"aiya, they need $$, go inside room and give them $$ then can edy!!" The lady helps us also because we go for wrong direction. KK, the point is the lady is a very beautiful chinese lady and her eyes very charming!! I guess William and his dad wait at the airport for very long,. Thanks them a lot, GRATIS!!! haha... After settle everything and put our bags, we start our food hunting session!!! Oh, pekanbaru don have tourist destinations but have lots of FOODSSSSS!!!Food station 1: Pizza Hut Lots of "special" pizza which we never try at Malaysia/Singapore!!!  Soup of the day. You can add as much toasts as you want! However, I feel that their toasts not so crunchy.Food: 3/5  Italian Green Soda. Soda drink with coconut juice, very nice!!! The taste very unique and not those sweet soda drinks! Trust me, must order this!Drink: 5/5  "anyhow pizza".Don know the name of this pizza. I keep on finding the pizza hut menu at Indo, but different places a bit different their pizza. Anyway, this pizza very nice with the mixture of lime! Very crunchy and I like their sauce! Those mayonise lovers will love this pizza! A bit close up ya.Pizza with lime? Yaya, you wil definitely love it!Food: 5/5  Melting tuna. Taste like Hawaiian Tuna pizza. Since we are cheese lovers, we order stuffed crust with extra cheese!!Food: 3.5/5 Overall food at Pizza Hut: 4/5 Service: 5/5 (waitress keep on smiling with good attitude) Ambience: 2/5 (smoking are allowed in restaurants) Price: $5.80 per person We order two pizza ( with extra topping) , 3 soupd of the days, garlic breads,drinks and we just need to pay around $5.80 per person! Definitely worth it! Food station 2: A&W  I think their root bear got add some waters. Not worth to buy because it cost around $1.3 per root bear.Food station 3: Meerebus stall  Normally, we eat meerebus at malay stalls but most of the meerebus stalls at pekanbaru cooked by chinese. Their meerebus totally different from what we eat at Malaysia/Singapore.This stall's meerebus taste a bit like chinese 炸酱面. Normally, our meerebus will put ikan bilis, kacang and so on. They put keropok. 通常我们吃的mee reebus是比较偏马铃薯与花生的味道，可这里的mee reebus有一点点地酸，酱汁很浓稠，选用的豆芽是粗大的豆芽。味道很特别！注意看他们的面条，不是用我们这里的粗黄面。面条偏细，类似干捞面的面条。Food: 5/5  This dish a little bit like rojak whereby you can choose which snacks you want to eat. Got popiah, 鱼饼... ... and eat with their special chili sauce.Food:3/5  "xiham" with sambal sauce. I like to eat xiham!!Nothing much to say,nice!Food: 4/5  Cendol! Omg, I definitely miss this cendol a lot! SUPER NICE! Their cendol also got big different, in Malaysia, we use 椰糖，in Singapore, they use syrup, in Pekanbaru, they use "atapzi". Their cendol add lots of coconut juice so the taste will be abit sour. But,I like it! Damn nice!! No red beans or jagung inside but very Nice! If can, can "da bao" this one or not! OMG OMG!! I miss this cendol already!!Food: 5/5 Overall food: 5/5 Service: 3/5 Price: mee rebus= $2.4 cendol=$0.73 Lots of stalls at penkabaru got lots of flies. So, before you eat their foods, must use tissue to clean your plate/spoons... ... Is a Must to do it.However, I don mind eating at those places with flies and I did enjoy it! Nice foods sure attract flies if foods not nice flies also don want eat lah =x We almost 2 hours eat a dish, so will upload more n more foods later. =p Labels: food hunting, pekanbaru |
